You’re Energy Efficient, Is Your Home?
You’re in shape! Now it’s time to get your house in shape, too – starting with an energy audit!
The Chapel Hill WISE Homes & Building Program is being offered through the end of May 2011 by the Town of Chapel Hill. Funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Energy through two grants totaling $300,000 made possible by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The program is offered to Chapel Hill residents whose homes are owner-occupied and single-family detached structures. Residents may qualify for grants up to $5,000 to help pay for energy audits and improvements that will lower utility bills. Be WISE and apply today at www.townofchapelhill.org/wise!
Chapel Hill, through its contractor Clean Energy Solutions, has developed a network of pre-qualified contractors who will conduct energy assessments and complete home improvements for eligible homeowners. The Town will also provide subsidies that will lower the cost of eligible home improvements by 25-50 percent. These subsidies are designed to incent “deep” energy efficiency improvements, meaning 15 percent or greater energy savings per home.
