Teach Yourself to Pedal at a Higher Cadence

 

Incorporate this simple cadence drill into your warm up and cool down for every ride.

  • Warm up for 5 minutes at a natural comfortable pedal rpm
  • Increase your pedal rpm to a point where it becomes uncomfortable, but don’t pedal so fast that your cadence is choppy or you bounce on the saddle.  For most riders this is about 10-15 rpm faster that normal
  • Maintain for 2 – 3 minutes
  • Repeat a few times then go about your normal ride
