A Carolina Tradition Continues

Wells Fargo Tar Heel 10-Miler, Presented by CEP Compression Sportswear,

Featuring the Fleet Feet Sports 4+ Mile Run

North Carolina’s Premier Running Experience

The Fifth Annual Wells Fargo Tar Heel 10-Miler, presented by CEP Compression Sportwear, featuring the Fleet Feet Sports 4+ Mile Run, will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2012. A record 5,000 runners are expected to take to the streets of Chapel Hill for Endurance Magazine’s monumental running event, which is fast becoming a spring Carolina tradition.

SAME GREAT COURSE

The 2012 course features the best of Chapel Hill, with a thrilling mix of flats, uphills and downhills. Starting and finishing at Kenan Football Stadium on the University of North Carolina campus, the course will feature the best of downtown Chapel Hill along with the scenic and historic neighborhoods of Gimghoul, Greenwood and Laurel Hill. Speaking of Laurel Hill, now is the time to head for those hills and start training for the Laurel Hill Challenge. This is a competition within the race to see who has the fastest time up Laurel Hill, with awesome awards for this challenge.

SPRING HOMECOMING

With its collegiate spirit, the Wells Fargo Tar Heel 10-Miler gives alumni from all over the state and beyond a great reason to come back and visit Chapel Hill during one of its most beautiful seasons.

CRASH THE PARTY

If that’s not enough excitement for you, the “Crash the Party” contest is back. This allows runners who are affiliated with ACC schools other than UNC to represent their colors with custom race bibs! For the last two years the Duke Blue Devils have “taken home” the digital Party Crasher Cup. This is a great way to make a statement in the Southern part of heaven and adds to the collegiate spirit of the race.

NEW FOR 2012

SPORToften RUNNING CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

Running clubs from across the region will compete to establish themselves as the 2012 SPORToften running club champion. The top five fastest finishers from each club will create the team score, and awards will be offered to the top men’s, women’s and male and female master’s teams. In addition, clubs with the most registrants will receive great prizes.

POWER IN NUMBERS: COMPETE AS A GROUP

Join a group (or create one) and celebrate your way to the finish line with your friends, co-workers, family and neighbors. Awards will be offered to the largest and fastest groups. Also, rewards will be offered to groups that grow the most each month. Look for the “Join a Group” option during registration at www.SPORToften.com.

10 – THE PERFECT DISTANCE

The 10-mile distance is a great way to challenge yourself if you’re used to running 5k and 10k distances; or, if you’re training for a late-spring half- or full marathon, the 10-miler is an opportune time to run a fast race before your taper. If you’re just getting started running, try the Fleet Feet Sports 4+ Mile Run – there is something in this race is for everyone.

SPONSORS

Wells Fargo is back as the title sponsor for the 10-Miler and CEP Compression Sportswear has come on board this year as presenting sponsor.
