750m Swim / 22mi Bike / 5k Run

May 19, Start Time: 8 a.m.

Tucked away in the Blue Ridge foothills, at the base of Linville Gorge, and only 75 miles northwest of Charlotte you’ll find spectacular Lake James, venue for the third annual MTA Sprint Triathlon. The McDowell Trails Association chose this extraordinary site to host their annual triathlon on the grounds of Lake James State Park. As described by Charlotte resident and triathlete Matthew Rice, Lake James “is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Carolinas, with clear water that stays cool even in July and is fed by wild mountain streams. Biking around the lake is fantastic with short rollers, fast curves, and spectacular views.”
