Olde Providence Elementary School – July 3, 7 p.m.
A good summer evening calls for enjoying the outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and relaxing with a cold beverage. A great summer evening entails running past the finish line dripping sweat, grabbing an ice-cold local draft, and kicking back poolside with 500 friends. If you party like we do, bring your whole family out to the second annual Charlotte Firecracker 5k on July 3 at 7 p.m. brought to you by Start 2 Finish Charlotte. Winding through the Olde Providence neighborhood and finishing at Windyrush Country Club pool, the Firecracker 5k is a great way to jump-start your Independence Day holiday.
Enjoy lifeguard-supervised childcare while you run the 5k, then cheer on your little ones for the 1-mile kids fun run. This race supports the neighboring Olde Providence Elementary School Foundation and the sense of community is unmistakable. With the feel of a neighborhood block party, food and beverages will be served from some of the best local spots, including Ilios Noche, Brooklyn Pizza, and Olde Mecklenburg Brewery. Too young for an adult beverage, or it’s just not your thing? Enjoy Heed energy drink from Hammer Nutrition and water from Diamond Springs. Carolina Sports Clinic will be set up to help relieve your sore and aching muscles so you can show off your best moves on the diving board. Using the Jaguar timing system, you can cruise over to the results tent to find real-time and printable results. Those who cannot be there to watch can enjoy a live finish-line feed from the race website.
