The third stop on the 2012 North Carolina USA Track & Field Endurance Series was the fifth anniversary edition of The Capital City Classic 10k in downtown Raleigh. Olympic hopeful Bobby Mack won his fourth consecutive Capital City Classic title in 30:46, exactly 1 minute off the course record of 29:46 he set last year. UNC graduate Brock Baker took the series lead with a strong runner-up showing in his first appearance at the Classic.

In the women’s competition, Kerri Lyons continued her winning ways, winning the Classic in 35:16, building a solid series lead with her second consecutive series victory. John Hinton won his fifth masters Capital City Classic title while Olympian Joan Nesbit-Mabe returned to the Classic for another female masters title, her second consecutive masters victory in the 2012 series.
Designed to assist N.C.-based Olympic hopefuls in their dreams of national and international competition, The Capital City Classic, in conjunction with NC USA Track & Field, has raised more than $12,000 toward these Olympic dreams.
