“I hadn’t ridden a bike outside since I was probably 12 years old and now I am hooked.”
Stephanie Townsend, 40

I am in LOVE with biking! My husband bought a bike and now we are riding together on weekends. I can’t wait to start training again for my next tri! I was so impressed with how well planned this event was. The course was well marked, the volunteers were so nice and supportive, and the energy was amazing. I had run several 5ks, a 6k, and a 10k. But, running isn’t really my thing. I turned 40 and really wanted to do something to mark that milestone and I knew that a half-marathon was out of the question, so I decided on a triathlon. The Ramblin’ Rose appealed to me since it was a super sprint and all women!
“Leaving the transition area on the bike was probably the BEST feeling I had ever had. When I left the transition area to the cheering crowds and saw my own little group of supporters it was an amazing feeling!”

“I just felt like I was on cloud nine after the triathlon and I still smile just thinking about it.”

Ramblin’ Rose was one of the most amazing experiences. What stands out the most is that it was the most positive competitive environment I’ve ever witnessed. Most of us were beginners and didn’t even know how to hang our bikes on the racks or organize our equipment, but we just laughed and worked together and shared tips that other triathletes had taught us. In the line to get to the swim start, we would share stories and tell the people behind us “Just pass me if you need to.” While biking, women would cheer me on while I passed them. It was sheer encouragement and woman power. There were women of all ages, from teens to young moms (like me) to grandmothers!
“All of us just wanted to ‘do it and survive’ and prove to ourselves and our families that this was attainable!”
