“I think it’s awesome to be a living example about fitness and eating healthy.”

From April to September 2011, I lost 25 pounds with power walking and eating smart. I watched my younger brother do an Ironman and my younger sister do a triathlon and I thought, “I could do that! Why not?” Well, now I am a triathlete! I am proud of myself. I worked very hard for this triathlon and even with a healing injury, I came close to my estimated finish times for each section. I also enjoyed varying my workout sessions training for this and I will continue to switch it up so it doesn’t get mundane. Triathlons have become a new hobby! I am a single mom of an 11-year-old boy. We ran two 5k’s together this year and he did a children’s triathlon! He also participates with Let Me Run, a volunteer-based after-school program that trains him to run a 5k at the end of seven weeks.
“I will definitely be doing the Ramblin’ Rose! I can’t wait to compare times and see the difference. I am also considering entering an Ironman relay team for the Beach to Battleship Ironman in Wilmington, N.C., in October 2013.”
