“Ramblin’ Rose has made me more committed to exercising regularly.”
Louise N. Davies, 42

I can’t just choose one memorable experience because it would not be fair. It is a collection of moments and images, the many days spent running, swimming, and biking. The look on my children’s faces as I passed them on the route. The “I am so proud of you” uttered by my husband as I crossed the line. Crossing paths on the bike route with my niece and encouraging each other. The wonderful volunteers who cheer for you. For me the biggest obstacle was time. I work full time and have two active boys that play soccer and football (both fall sports). Training was another thing to do on my daily list and at times it was not easy. Many times I ran at the football field or biked close by. I have a whole support system: my husband, who will go bike with me; my mother, who will cook evening meals so that I can go for a quick swim after work; and my children, who on those days I don’t feel like training will push me to go – in particular my youngest, who will even volunteer to go swim laps with me.
“In 2011 I participated in one Ramblin’ Rose. In 2012 I participated in two Ramblin’ Roses along with the Tri-Ballantyne. This year I plan to repeat Ramblin’ Rose Charlotte, Winston-Salem, and participate in Chapel Hill and add Ramblin’ Rose Raleigh along with repeating the Tri-Ballantyne.”
