“Their cheers were so loud it gave me goose bumps.”

When I finished the bike course and started out on the run, the first 100 yards went by the outside of the pool building, where there were hundreds of women about to start their swim. Their cheers were so loud it gave me goose bumps. I think I ran that 100 yards faster than at any point in any race ever – it was just such a pick-me-up! This race celebrates and embraces every shape, size, and speed of athlete. Even those who don’t think they are athletes! The cheering from spectators and other competitors was just amazing. No matter if it is your first tri or 50th, it’s an experience not to miss.
“Traveling all the way from Texas to do the Ramblin’ Rose, I didn’t have any idea what to expect from the race. I was absolutely amazed by the number of women racing, and the sheer diversity of competitors. It was one of the most inspiring and supportive races I’ve ever done.”

I started running when I was 49. A few years ago I realized I would never be fast and decided I needed a different challenge so I decided to run some kind of race in every state. I have done everything from 5k to half-marathon as well as duathlon and triathlon. September 25 was my 56th birthday and for my birthday I wanted to do two races in two days in two states over the weekend and I wanted one of them to be a tri … so I started searching. When I found the Ramblin’ Rose and did a little research about it, I knew I had found the right race. So I went looking and found a 5k in South Carolina the day before. Having my partner finish before me and then appear all over the course to cheer me on was my most memorable moment.
