10 Miler

The 10-mile course is the ONLY road race that begins and finishes in Kenan Stadium! Runners leave the stadium and circle back around and through the concourse of the stadium before heading down Cameron Avenue past the Old Well. Continuing to the edge of downtown, runners will turn on South Graham Street and run the entire length of Franklin Street to Boundary Street. The course then runs through the historic neighborhoods of Gimghoul, Greenwood and Laurel Hill, which showcase the beauty and floral colors of Chapel Hill in the spring.

4 Mile Run

This accessible distance is perfect for runners of all ability levels. The four-mile course begins under the Bell Tower on South Road. Runners will head downhill as South Road becomes Raleigh Road and will then enter the historic Greenwood neighborhood. After completing the neighborhood portion of the course, runners will enjoy an aid station in front of St. Thomas More Church before beginning the climb up Laurel Hill and then finishing in Kenan Stadium.

Aid Stations

There will be three aid stations on the course, with the last one also serving 4-Milers.

1. Old Well on Cameron Avenue (mile 3): serving Primo Water & lemon lime Gatorade

2. Battle Lane (near mile 5): serving water, lemon lime Gatorade, and GU Energy Gels (vanilla bean and jet blackberry)

3. Mile 8: serving water, lemon lime Gatorade, and GU Energy Gels (vanilla bean and jet blackberry)

Tips for Runners

Laurel Hill is actually two hills, one at the beginning and one at the end with a slight downhill in the middle. All through this portion of the course you will enjoy the serenity of lovely historic homes and a gently rolling course.

Once you reach the top of Ridge Road, it is downhill to the finish, except for the entry ramp up into the stadium. Enjoy the downhill but keep enough energy to crush that last bit of a hill and enter Kenan Stadium feeling strong!

Post race, the Proaxis Therapy Recovery Zone will be up near Gate 6 as well as Fleet Feet Sports Carrboro.

Come out and cheer!

Even if you are not planning to run, come share in the excitement and accomplishment of those who are running! There are several places along the course you can easily access to cheer for the parade of runners. Downtown on Franklin Street is a prime spot to cheer and is accessible from parking lots on Rosemary Street. Other options for spectators are to watch the start and finish in the stadium, or watch along South Road or Ridge Road. You will find parking in the Smith Center parking lots. Make sure you arrive early as there will be many participants preparing for their run.
