Nearly 8,000 athletes ranging from 6-18 years of age will travel to Greensboro this summer to compete in the 2013 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships at North Carolina A&T University on July 22-28.
Seven action-packed days of competition will be held at the Irwin Belk Track, where track stars in the making will compete for national titles and try to leave their marks on the record books. Many of Team USA’s Olympians got their start as youth athletes, including stars such as Allyson Felix, Sanya Richards Ross, Bryan Clay, Lauryn Williams and Meb Keflezighi.
Greensboro continues to build upon its reputation as one of the top destinations for youth track and field. North Carolina A&T has previously served as the home of the 2009 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships and the 2006 USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The championships will bring thousands of families and spectators to the Greensboro area, filling an estimated 4,000 hotel rooms and boosting the local economy.
Athletes living in North Carolina who wish to compete in the Junior Olympic Championships must be members of USA Track & Field and compete in the Region 16 meet in order to gain a berth to the National Championships.

Please note that Region 16 Championship is the Association State Meet, which will be held June 20-23 in Greensboro at North Carolina A&T.
