“The entire event was so memorable for me and was just overall an outpouring of support and love from the co-participants, volunteers and loved ones.”
My daily routine prior to joining a gym that led to my decision to participate in Ramblin’ Rose was as follows: get off work, meet with a friend to have a drink, eat something like fettuccine alfredo or a fat juicy burger, and then go home and pass out from exhaustion. Then I would wake up in the morning feeling miserable and sluggish. That was when I started to beat myself up mentally for doing the same thing over and over again. Now, not only do I enjoy working out, eating healthier with the occasional burger, but I am 82 pounds lighter, love life and have the energy to enjoy life events.
My close friend Mark was the most supportive person in my training. Mark is a spin instructor at my local gym who does many triathlons himself and volunteers at Ramblin’ Rose every year. He not only encouraged me that I could complete the race but also reminded me to have fun. As stubborn as I am to admit I need help, I don’t know if I would have done it, let alone finished, if I didn’t have him there as a friend and mentor. Thanks, Mark!
“I wake now, happy with myself and my overall life choices. Where I am now would not have been possible if I did not make that commitment to participate in the Ramblin’ Rose!”
