I am a seven-year ovarian cancer survivor, and since treatment I have tried be active, and have run local 5k’s, but this was definitely different, since I have never really swam other than for leisure. I went to an information session at Great Outdoor Provision in Winston-Salem in 2013, and ended up winning free entry for myself and a friend, so I was doing it; it was set. My most memorable moment was coming across that finish line! I was so proud to have finished among so many other fabulous women! I really can do anything I set my mind to!
