“Ramblin’ Rose was the best experience I ever had! It was more than just a race to me, it was a sense of worth.”
I’m going through a real life change since my divorce. God has really shown me a new direction in my life. I’ve spent many years feeling like a nothing and now I know that I am worth something, I’m a somebody. I’m doing things that I never imagined doing. I thought it was the greatest thing when I finished my first 5k a year and a half ago. Me, do my first triathlon at the age of 42? I never imagined it until, one day in March just before my 42nd birthday, I saw the information online about the Ramblin’ Rose women-only triathlon trying to find a 5k event to do during the summer. I kept seeing the words “You can do it.” I then pulled it up on YouTube, watched some of the videos, and was hooked. Ramblin’ Rose was the best experience I ever had! It was more than just a race to me, it was a sense of worth when for so many years I had none because of the marriage I was in. If you ladies out there don’t think you can do it, yes you can! I did it and it’s the greatest feeling. I also can’t forget the great volunteers who were out there motivating me not to give up. They are awesome.
“What got to me the most is when my sister ran up next to me on the last lap of the run and told me that the finish line was just around the corner and I began to cry. I’m going to finish, I did it!”
