“Be prepared to be empowered, celebrated and uplifted, because the race truly is a celebration of you.”
I have to put the disclaimer out there that I had never considered myself an athlete and while I wanted to test my limits I knew I wasn’t ready to run a marathon or complete an Ironman. In my spare time I had started Googling races and events that were designed to test you mentally and physically. I was looking to take baby steps, to try something new and feel totally supported and uplifted while doing so. I found the Ramblin’ Rose triathlon on the Endurance Magazine website and decided this was my tri. I fell in love with the simple tag line “You Can Do This” on the Ramblin’ Rose website. I browsed the website and wound up navigating onto Sport Often looking at all the local races. I remember thinking to myself, “I can run, I used to swim and I know how to ride a bike so I think I can do it.”
“The race has totally empowered my fitness endeavors. After completing the race I have totally put myself out there participating in various rides and races. This fall I completed the Habitat for Humanity 30-mile Halloween Ride and the Gobble and Gorge, which was the longest organized race distance I have done to date.”
