Spectacular Lake James is the backdrop for this year’s fifth annual Lake James Triathlon and Duathlon! Located in the North Carolina foothills and framed by the Blue Ridge Mountains, Lake James is a man-made lake with 6,812 acres of water and more than 150 miles of shoreline. The triathlon is staged from the Lake James State Park at the Paddy’s Creek venue and is 1,200 feet above sea level.
The breathtaking views of Lake James and the mountains are visible from the majority of the course. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or are new to multi-sport events, you’ll appreciate the challenges offered here. Swim 750 meters in Lake James, bike 22 miles and finish with a 5k run. Duathlon participants will begin with a 3.1-mile run and then ride 22 miles before running the 5k to the finish line.
All participants must be current USA Triathlon members, present a membership card, or purchase a temporary card at the event. Cost is $12. Register online and save, or register the morning of the event. www.mtatriathlon.blueridgemultisports.com
