Turn your competition into a vacation and enjoy a weekend (or a week!) at Rumbling Bald Resort, host of the 10th annual Lake Lure Olympiad on Aug. 15-17, 2014.
Anchoring the weekend are the 10K Dam Run, Lake Lure Triathlon (750-meter swim, 22.3k bike and 5k run) and Race to the Rock (25-mile bike or 5k run to the top of Chimney Rock). Let your kids compete and earn medals, too, in the Junior Olympiad events for ages 4-14.
Some weekend perks include a free shoulder bag for all triathletes, a T-shirt for all 10K Dam Run, Lake Lure Triathlon and Race to the Rock athletes, massages for triathletes after crossing the finish line, ample time to relax and enjoy the beach area at Rumbling Bald Resort (finish line for the 10k and triathlon), an opportunity for the kids to compete like Mom and Dad and earn medals in the Junior Olympiad, and events that take place on the lake and beach.
The weekend also includes golf and pickleball tournaments, opening ceremonies featuring 2014 official torch lighter N.C. Secretary of State Sharon Decker, free ice cream sundaes and more!
Celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year, the Lake Lure Olympiad is a nonprofit organization that has given back nearly $250,000 to area charities. Hosted by Rumbling Bald Resort and Chimney Rock State Park, with support from Rutherford Regional Health System, the races AND the views will take your breath away.
