Join the fight against childhood poverty in the Lake Norman area. Run, walk or roll in the Mooresville Lake Norman Christian Mission’s Fourth Annual Turkey Trot on Nov. 27, 2014. This fun and fundraising event is a USATF-certified 5k race that allows runners to race in the morning and then eat Thanksgiving dinner guilt-free in the afternoon! This family-friendly event includes a 5k walk/run and a kids’ fun run through the historic street of downtown Mooresville. Over 700 runners participated in 2013. New this year we have Trot Teams! Prizes will be awarded for the largest team, most colorful team and most festive team.
This year’s presenting sponsor, Randy Marion Automotive, as well as Sweet Dreams Mattress, MI Connection, Mooresville Tribune, Iredell Health System and Charlotte Running Company are all joining the fight against childhood poverty. All proceeds from the Turkey Trot will go directly back into the community to support the services of the Mission. The Mission has been serving the Mooresville-Lake Norman area for over 75 years offering hope, empowering people and fighting poverty. Currently the Mission serves 4,800-plus families with crisis assistance, a resource store, transitional housing, educational classes, job and work skills programs as well as mentoring and support as our clients strive to journey out of poverty to self-sufficiency. In October the Mission launched a new panty format. The Choices Community Pantry allows our clients to shop with dignity in our mini-mart, selecting the foods that their family likes and addressing any special dietary needs they may have. At the Mission our focus is bringing families and individuals out of poverty into self-sufficiency. Visit www.mooresvillechristianmission.org to learn more and register today!
