This healthy twist on traditional buffalo wings will impress both carnivores and vegetarians at your next football viewing party. Roots Mango Sriracha hummus provides a delicious balance of sweet and spicy flavors while thickening the glaze and batter. This recipe serves two to four.

Ingredients

  • 1 head of cauliflower

Batter:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons Roots Mango Sriracha Hummus
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons flour (use gluten-free baking flour to make these gluten-free)
  • ½ tsp each of garlic powder and onion powder
  • ½ tsp each of smoked paprika and chili powder
  • Salt to taste

Mango Sriracha Glaze:

  • 4 heaping tablespoons of Roots Mango Sriracha Hummus
  • ¾ cup mango nectar
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (we used Frank’s RedHot)
  • 2 teaspoons honey

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  2. Pull the cauliflower apart and cut into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Mix water and hummus for the batter. Add to the dry batter ingredients. Stir with a whisk until smooth and thick. Add a little more flour if needed.
  4. Dip the cauliflower in the batter and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes.
  5. Combine all glaze ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a simmer on medium heat. Adjust heat to medium low. Simmer while stirring with a whisk for 5 minutes or until glaze is smooth and thick. Add a little more hot sauce, if desired. Remove from heat.
  6. Remove cauliflower from oven and allow to cool for 2-3 minutes. Using a pastry or basting brush, coat each piece with glaze. Serve immediately.
