The More the Merrier! Pace Team Vets Get More Local Muscle
Runners at this year’s Novant Health Thunder Road Marathon can partner up with some folks who really run this town. The Charlotte Running Club has officially joined the event and Endurance Magazine as a Pace Team Partner. Starting with this year’s event, Club members and veteran Thunder Road pacers will team up to lead runners to finish times from 3 hours to 6 hours under the new Endurance Magazine/Charlotte Running Club Pace Team banner.
“This is such a great opportunity to establish Thunder Road as a cornerstone event for the single largest organized group of runners in Charlotte, and will help further galvanize community support of this event and the Club,” said race director Tim Rhodes.
The Club’s mission to motivate runners and help them reach their goals is right in line with the goals for Thunder Road and Endurance Magazine, said Rhodes. Many club members have participated as runners or Pace Team members over the years. Formalizing an arrangement to bring more of them to the start line in support of the city’s premiere road racing event and the runners was a natural connection.
“Completing a marathon, regardless of the finishing time, is a tremendous accomplishment, and our club is honored to have the opportunity to support runners across our community at this great event,” said Charlotte Running Club president Bill Shires.
Along with sharing the load as Pace Team leaders, Club members will also host a cheer station along the marathon route, and staff the Endurance Magazine/Charlotte Running Club Pace Team booth at the Novant Health Thunder Road Marathon Expo.
