Epic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, pastoral farmland and quiet roads await athletes in the Culpeper Triathlon and Gran Fondo. Culpeper is sixty minutes from Washington, DC and a short 3.5 hour drive from Raleigh-Durham.
Nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Culpeper Triathlon offers beautiful mountain views along the bike and run courses and a picture perfect race site. Convenient to multiple hotels and great restaurants, Culpeper offers small town charm with big city amenities. An in-water start in Mountain Run Lake begins the race then is followed by a hilly, well paved and breathtakingly scenic bike course. While the triathlon bike course doesn’t take you into the Blue Ridge Mountains, their sight will be your constant companion as you ride. After the bike, lace up your running shoes for a challenging run along wheat fields on closed residential roads.
The Culpeper Gran Fondo is a fun, challenging ride featuring 30, 62 and 100 mile routes that wind along the back roads of Culpeper and Madison Counties at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. While the 30 and 62 mile routes are challenging, the 100 mile route has significantly more climbing and ventures further into the mountains. All rides have views of beautiful farmland, horse farms, trout streams and more.
All triathletes and riders have access to the best post race party on the East Coast complete with plenty of food, fruit, ice cream and cold drinks. You’ll also ride away with a swag bag complete with a soft tri-blend shirt, cycling socks, water bottle and custom finisher medal.
