Spectacular Lake James is the back drop for this year’s 6th Annual Lake James Triathlon and Duathlon. Located in the North Carolina foothills and framed by the Blue Ridge Mountains, Lake James is a man made lake with 6,812 acres of water and more than 150 miles of shoreline. The triathlon is staged from the Lake James State Park at the Paddy’s Creek venue and is 1,200 feet above sea level.
The breathtaking views of Lake James and the mountains are visible from the majority of the course. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or are new to multi-sport events, you’ll appreciate the challenges offered here. Swim 750 meters in Lake James, bike 22 miles and finish with a 5k run. Duathlon participants will begin with a 3.1 mile run then ride 22 miles before running the 5k to the finish line.
