This year’s Huntersville Half Marathon & Holiday 5K will be the 5th anniversary. Since the beginning, the objective was to provide an opportunity for local runners to run a race on the streets where they train daily. The overall event has grown about 20% year after year and looks to reach that same growth this year. The course change that was implanted last year will remain again this year. The rolling hill course winds through Huntersville, NC, neighborhoods and shopping centers to showcase the community, while focusing on the safety and enjoyment of the runners and the supportive community. The event is supported by local athletes, businesses and community members to give participants the opportunity to experience Huntersville as a leader in advocacy for health and wellness.
The 2015 Huntersville Half Marathon is presented by Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center for the fifth year which will benefit the Novant Health Foundation, helping families of patients in need during and after treatment. This race is about local runners supporting the local community, which is why all the benefits stay local as well. The event will take place on Saturday, December 12 and will start and finish at Birkdale Village in Huntersville off Exit 25 on I-77. The half marathon will begin at 8:00 am. In addition, there is a 5K and a kids 1-mile option for those who care for a shorter distance. With the support of the local community the event has the opportunity to provide a quality experience that is designed with the athlete in mind. Current prices for the event are $65 for the half marathon and $25 for the 5K and $15 for the 1 mile. These prices will remain the same through the month of November.
Each athlete will receive a custom Huntersville Half hoodie and custom finishers medal which can be seen on www.huntersvillehalf.com. Also, on the website you have access to the certified course maps and any other information athletes may need.
