Sunday, September 18, will mark the 5th Annual Navy-Air Force Half Marathon and 13th Annual Navy 5-Miler. The races launch the military’s fall running events in Washington, DC. The half marathon makes for a great training run for the Marine Corps Marathon a few weeks later.
The USATF-certified courses start and finish in the shadow of the Washington Monument. Passing many Washington DC memorials, the course takes runners along the scenic Rock Creek Parkway and the flat and fast East and West Potomac parks. Award categories include overall male and female, masters (40-plus years of age) male and female, wheelchair male and female, five-year age groups, and team categories for each race. A runners’ expo will be held during packet pick-up for runners to get great deals on race gear and running products.
The Ultimate Warrior Medal will be returning for the Navy-Air Force Half Marathon and 5 Miler! The medal is an achievement medal for those who participate in three United States Military organized races between Monday, September 21, 2015 and Sunday, September 18, 2016.
