Each year, seriously ill children from around the world come to Charlotte to receive advanced medical care. Often, these children must be away from home for weeks at a time while receiving treatment. It can be a stressful and scary period for these young patients and their families. Luckily, the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte serves as a “home away from home” for these families while they are fighting serious healthcare struggles.
The 2016 Back On Track 5K Run/Walk, hosted by Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates, will be held to benefit Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte.
“As the largest private neurosurgery practice in the county, each year, sick children from around the globe receive care from our incredible team of pediatric neurosurgeons,” said Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates CEO Mary Cloninger. “We have seen what a dramatic impact having family close by has for these young patients, and Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte makes that possible.”
The event course begins at the 225 Baldwin Avenue office of Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates, continuing through the historic Myers Park and Dilworth neighborhoods. This year’s event also features a kid’s run after the 5K.
The presenting sponsor for the Back On Track 5K Run/Walk is Gardner Skelton. Additional event sponsors are Sharonview Federal Credit Union, Prince Parker, NFP, Tyler 2 Construction, SunTrust, Medcost, Physician’s Wear, Smith & Salisbury, PLLC, CapTrust, Hendrick Motorsports and McCulloch England Associates Architects.
“Our first Back On Track 5K was a great success and we appreciate everyone who participated,” said Cloninger. “We hope that even more people will come out to run this year for the Ronald McDonald House.”
