Special Olympics of Alamance Haw River Trail Run | October 15 | Haw River
Come out for a beautiful trail run along the banks of the Haw River to benefit Special Olympics Alamance County. Special Olympics Alamance serves 400 adult and children athletes with developmental disabilities. Special Olympics Alamance provides year round athletic competition in 13 sports and provides the opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and experience joy at all levels and at no cost. This out and back course will give you a tour of the Sellers Falls section of the Haw River and Mountains to Sea Trail. The run will start and end in Red Slide Park in the Shadows of the historic Cone Denim Mill.

Insane Terrain 5K | October 22 | Elkin
The EVTA 4th Annual Insane Terrain 5k starts at the Elkin Park and takes advantage of new trails and bridges along the Big Elkin Creek. Enjoy the beautiful scenery including waterfalls, mountain terrain, wildflowers and the fall colors. The first half of the course will be on a wide rolling trail covered in gravel dust crossing the Big Elkin Creek on two new bridges. The second half will be single track type using the new Elkin Creek Mountain Bike Trail. Chip timed with Cash Prize of First Place Overall Male and Female. All runners, hikers, walkers are welcome! Proceeds from this race benefit the construction of bridges and trails from Elkin to Stone Mountain and is part of the MST (Mountains to Sea Trail).

Ghouls Just Wanna Have Fun Trail Run | October 29 | Conover
Come out to the beautiful RiverBend Park in Conover for a fun 5k trail run and Kids Monster Dash. If you are lucky enough to make it through the maze of spiders and spooks along the trail, you are invited to stay after the run for the Ghouls Carnival. Food, games, a photo booth and a bonfire will be part of the fun! Be creative and show your Halloween spirit by wearing a costume to win a prize! The day will start with packet pick up beginning at 3:45pm through 4:45pm in the parking lot at RiverBend Park. The Kids Monster Dash will start 4:45pm. All kids receive a trick or treat goodie bag. The costume contest will take place at the Start Line at 5:00pm. Judging for the best costume for INDIVIDUAL MALE, INDIVIDUAL FEMALE, COUPLE/GROUP as well as our four-legged man’s best friend! Doggie treats will be awarded for the best dressed pooch!! Dogs must be leashed and have rabies tag. After judging, a speaker from Veterans Helping Veterans and the Foothills Veterans Stand Down will discuss how your participation in this event will make a difference in the lives of our homeless veterans. The trail run begins at 5:15pm.

South of the Mountain Trail Run | November 5 | Bostic
Encompassing rolling hills, wooded paths, and scenic views along the lake, the South of the Mountain Trail Run offers a wide variety of challenges for runners and walkers of all skill levels in one of the most beautiful settings around. This 5k course is located entirely on the 260 acres of South Mountain Christian Camp in Bostic, NC. The course takes runners on one continuous loop through a wide dirt trails on the South side of Cherry Mountain. Registered runners are treated to a free race shirt (register by October 21 to guarantee your size), a free drawstring backpack, trophies to the top three overall male and female finishers, trophies to first place male and female masters, and medals to top three male and female finishers in each age division. There will also be free supervised kids activities during the 5k including crafts, rock wall, and game room not to mention a free fun run for kids after the 5k (small medal awarded to each participant).

Raven Rock Rumble | November 12 | Lillington
Raven Rock State Park is a true gem in North Carolina less than an hour from Raleigh. This Raven Rock Rumble will highlight all the great trails in the park and treat runners to a post race awards ceremony after all the hard work. This course isn’t easy but it’s fun— there will be hills! Runners will also get a great view of a river, Raven Rock, and a waterfall! The 10 Mile Course starts on main park road, heads counter-clockwise on Raven Rock Loop, including American Beech Nature Trail, Little Creek Loop, and an out-and-back on Fish Traps Trail. The second half is the Campbell Creek Loop clockwise; finish back on main park road. The 5 Mile Course starts on main park road, follows the Campbell Creek Loop clockwise, and finished back on main park road.
