Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally.
I chose a challenge that would improve my health from a Wheel of Health designed by Duke Integrative Medicine. Since the functionality of my position at QuintilesIMS is fast-paced with constant interruptions, I find the practice of staying “mindful” in the present moment has helped me focus without undue stress throughout my day.
Short visits to our onsite fitness center (QFIT) and our wellness and relaxation room, as well as learned breathing techniques, keep me focused during the day. Daily meditation each morning before work is sometimes difficult, but the key is turning your radio off and breathing deeply when feeling stressed or overwhelmed.
LESS unneeded distractions will give you MORE quality to a heathy life.
