June 29, 2013 – 9 a.m. – Beech Mountain, N.C.
2013 Beech Mountain Trail 10k to Crown 2013 USA 10k Trail Champions
The 2013 USA 10k Trail Championships will be moving to Beech Mountain, N.C., and will be held on June 29. This race also serves at the USA 10K Trail Championships as well as the State Trail Championship. For any concerned about the overall challenge of the new course, don’t be – it will be a challenge!
Expect more twisting and root-filled trails along with great views. There will be plenty of vertical loss and gain over the 10k. The footing will range from relatively smooth to moderately technical. Expect camaraderie typical of the trail running community with the low-key, social atmosphere surrounding the event. This will be a great opportunity to enjoy the N.C. mountains and trails, plus put yourself to the challenge on those trails. The race will be a great experience for all levels of runners. The elite athlete looking for top national competition should find plenty on these mountainsides. Age group runners get the chance to challenge for national superiority in five-year age groups from 40 and up. Recreational runners get to share in the challenge on the same course, during the same race. Plus all runners will mingle afterward to share their experience on the trails. The race will also have team competitions for all the clubs out there. There will be an open category and then 10-year masters teams from 40 and up.
