Enjoy a great run around downtown Kannapolis! The Nutrithon offers both a 5k and 8k run, which will start at the NC Research Campus and travel around the 8th Street greenway. The path through the greenway is covered by a canopy of trees and provides runners a peaceful atmosphere with beautiful scenery. The trail is primarily flat, so come to run fast or enjoy an easy pace while being surrounded by nature! Want to challenge yourself or just have a little fun? This bike ride is perfect for the family or for the competitive athlete. Ride a 50k or 100k trail on the country roads that circle the city of Kannapolis.
After the races, plan to stay for entertainment, enjoy a post-race meal and learn more about the NC Research program. At the Nutrithon event, representatives from the UNC Chapel Hill Nutrition Research Institute, Sensory Spectrum, Inc., and the MURDOCK Study, the NCRC’s partners who regularly conduct clinical studies, will be onsite with information about their research programs as well as activities, giveaways and opportunities to register to be part of upcoming studies.
Proceeds will benefit construction of the Rotary House for the NC Research Campus in Kannapolis. All participants will receive a technical T-shirt, in addition to soft drinks, water, snacks and a meal. The 5k and 8k runs start at 7:45 a.m. and the recreational bike ride starts at 9 a.m.
There will be special opportunities for all students who would like to participate in the 5k. Cost for elementary students is $5, for middle school students is $7, and for high school students is $10. These student prices are offered with mail-in registration only. These entries must be mailed to Kannapolis Rotary Club, P.O. Box 865, Kannapolis, NC 28082.
