A cross-country runner in high school, 44-year-old Marvin Alston got back into running recently to get into shape and start living a healthier lifestyle. In 2012, he ran his first 5k since high school and has been running ever since. The N.C. Department of Transportation employee loves to run races with a lot of participants and family-fun activities. His most memorable moment running came when he met Meb Keflezighi after running the All American Marathon, just weeks after he had won the Boston Marathon. “We took pictures with our medals,” says Alston. “I found him to be a real down-to-earth guy.” Alston says the coolest thing he has ever found when running was “inner peace like nothing I had ever known.”
WHAT ALSTON HAS TO SAY ABOUT THE BULL CITY RACE FEST & FOOD TRUCK RODEO:
I loved the scenery and support along the course, the cheering fans at the finish, the jazz band, the medal, the food trucks, and the kid activities! Huge shout-out to the volunteers and the Durham Police Department.
